Your ever-growing Spotify playlist is a staple in the Phat Cave
Hi all, great to be back.
Suburban South Londoner, lost in the disco
Was it your mystery mix with Propaganda about half way through? Gang of Four too? I battered that mix for ages…loved it Jolyon.
There was one with Propaganda but not Gang of Four. Hard to believe this is now 15 years old
Hiding out in Mold currently Phil
Steve here, Archway dweller, basement producer (as musical alter-ego Smashed Atoms), Low Life regular.
Recently moved a turntable to the living room, leading to a worrying escalation in my vinyl habit. The return of DJH is not helping.
Lovely to hang out with y’all.
Great to hear you play again at Rotation Jolyon. Still got it…
Thanks Steve such a perfect set up there
Haven’t seen these folks yet:
Bandana Ferret
JAZ
Justin Chodzko
Phil Potter
The first couple are on FB, the latter two are a bit more of a mystery.
And where is Count Cookula these days? Bill?
There are a few others that I see on FB from time to time
Red Rackem
Groovy Panda
Phil Grant
Balearik Soul
Vic20
Cottam
Others whose aliases I’ve forgotten but I’m sure I know them from here. Also got a fleeting moment where Martin Red popped up.
Solid State too
Cookula had a FB account but it has been deactivated
Ah brilliant I will check this out asap.
Used to post from the comfort of our 3rd bedroom/home office often accompanied by a bottle of full bodied red. How times have changed. Now in our conservatory, out of the way of the rest of the family. Delightful in the summer for chill out mixes, but now that winter is coming it’s a tad chilly. I do have an electric heater in here, looks like I’m actually going to have to use my OAP winter fuel allowance in staying warm this year rather than frittering it away on more music like last year. When the wind comes from a certain direction there’s a leak in the roof that drips down on me. Fairly convinced that I have an uninvited guest in here by the odd scrabbling noises I hear from behind the sofa. Surprised that our 2 dogs haven’t dealt with it.
I am ‘T’ total now following some major surgery I had 6 years ago.
Voice track my hospital radio shows from here with a Snowball Ice mic and sometimes do an intro for my Ambient shows with Vault.
That’s the one! Great selection man…
Well well well, this is nice. I used to post here a bit under the name Dublin Bus Disco (I think?) circa 2006-2009… otherwise under my real name Louis.
I had an mp3 blog called DBD which was the style at the time. I was pretending to be a disco loving bus driver. That was my entry into the DJ scene here in Dublin (lol) …good times. I used to promote my first club night Discotekken here too.
It would be nice to see a general shift away from social media & back to messaging forums. I’ve thought about this a bit so it’s nice to see DJ History being revived.
It’s lovely to see some familiar names here, good to be back. Also good to see some of the beard science collective representing x
Greetings from Minnesota!
I spent a lot of time lurking on the old site, and have eagerly resumed the habit. Though I’ll try to post in here too! DJ History taught me so much about music. It’s a joy it’s back!
Morning Papa (or Louis)
Discotekken! Now there’s a name that I havent heard in a while. Did you guys run nights out of the Bernard Shaw when it was in Portobello??
Prefab (Or Ger in Real Life!)
Michael is currently in hibernation in Stoke Newington. He no longer DJs.
