Hey everyone! I am Basia, a MA in Event Design and Management student at University of Westminster with a background in sociology, marketing, data analytics, and music production. I shape all my work around music, its culture and the spaces it creates. Currently, I am working on my dissertation exploring how rave culture’s authenticity has evolved with commercialisation.
If you’ve been part of the scene, as a raver, DJ, promoter, or someone with thoughts on how the vibe, sound, and setup of events have changed, I’d love to hear from you! I’m looking to have brief, informal chats with people who have witnessed how the culture has evolved over the years. The conversation would be completely confidential. All identifying details would be anonymised to protect everyone’s privacy and the scene’s integrity.
The interviews would take around 40-60 minutes and take place online at whatever time works for you within the next few weeks. We’d talk about your experiences with the scene, how event design has shaped those experiences, and how you see commercialisation impacting the culture. Just a genuine conversation about something we all care about.
My aim is to document your stories and help build a thoughtful guide on what it means to create an authentic rave experience in today’s commercial world.
If this resonates and you’d be open to speaking, it would mean a lot to me. Even half an hour of your time would be incredibly valuable. Feel free to reach out at basia@wachowicz.me
Much love,
Basia
