Favourite new old discovery of 2022

This whole compilation. Bought it so I could have a copy of “Frozen Faces”, instantly fell in love with the whole comp. Pressed all the right buttons for me at a time when I really needed it, and fell for it all HARD.

I have a 320 of the original CD - DM me if you are interested in that. Its called House For Sale, rather than “Record”, and has a few more tracks than on your Discogs link.

Timeless Detroit techno from the 90s. Love this album

“Was listening to your Low Life mix. What’s that tune last but one from the end? Sounds a bit like Terrence Trent D’Arby…”

“It’s Prince.”

This sounds like a house track to me, what am I missing? Pure Happy Trax/early 90s Mad Mike vibes, for sure, but not particularly techno. Where’s the border where something stops being house and becomes techno?

Hi, thanks!
I’ve just luckily found “Record” CD on Redacted and just managed to grab FLAC / aiffs!

I agree this track has a definite house flavour but the album as a whole is certainly techno. I guess my personal leaning to house influenced which track I chose.

me too, wonderful uplifting music

I reckon that could be a great thing to ask John Collins, particularly in this specific context… can’t think of anyone better placed at that particular coalface. Loved those edits he did of selected Happy tracks that came out as a “Sweat” imprint out of Submerge.

Nu-Era was Marc Mac, just to make things a bit more interesting. And this was included on the wonderful “Deepest Shades of Techno 2 x LP”

Think he was the only Brit on that compilation (most, but not all, were from the D).

That Beyond Gravity sleeve looks really familiar, hoping I have it somewhere after listening to that track… haven’t dug around the shelves in ages, nice to have some motivation to do so!

This was on the second Nuphonic Loft compilation. My favourite from it, actually. If only I still had it!

its on RUtracker as full flac, if you want a torrent i can grab it. wait its the reissue from 2020 so not there!

I used to have this. Would say it’s more likely from late 90s. Very good.

No, came out on Drop in 2001.

Wouldn’t have had it down as a Kenny Carpenter record, but there you go.
