Classic club charts

I’ve been listening through the audiobook version of ‘Last Night a DJ Saved My Life’, and have got slightly transfixed by going through and listening - properly listening … start to finish, sometimes multiple times - to every tune on the DJ charts for each of the clubs.

The problem is … I want more. More, more, more. What were the big tunes at the big techno clubs - The Orbit in Leeds, Pure in Edinburgh, Tresor in Berlin, The Rex Club in Paris? And Blackpool Mecca … it says there was a different sound there than at Wigan Casino … so what was it?

I love finding all this cool music, but as importantly it’s knowing/understanding the context. So as an example, I’ve never been that much in to disco. But when you hear it alongside other music that would’ve been played in clubs of that period, it kind of makes more sense in my head and I can see what I’m trying to get out of disco rather than just stuff that sounds like Abba or whatever! :slight_smile:

Anyway, is there a resource for this type of thing? Lists of classic tracks played at specific clubs?

I went to Pure several times and the Rex (once) and can’t really remember anything that was played so this would be a good list…

The lower half of the page is a good resource of tracklistings of tapes from various uk clubs (mostly late 80s and 90s) and should give you a decent flavour for The Orbit etc.…

Thanks both. The second link in particular is exactly what I’d hoped for - but very appreciative of the Pure one as if I was picking out one club that interested me, that’s it! :slight_smile:
