Patreon and Bandcamp Subs

All the releases just came through, including Just A touch. Kind of glad I didn’t get them all at once. Well worth the money

I was about to post as I saw my inbox suddenly light up. The fact that there is the Bright & Findley album in there too just makes an incredible bargain even better. There are some crackers added in there from East Coast Love Affair and Benita too!

Richie, thanks for the update. I’m sold. Not sure why I’ve hesitated…it’s patently good value.

EDIT Haha, too slow!. Did it go up in price overnight?

Not sure, I paid about £28.

Aye so much good stuff. Those East Coast love affair tunes are ace. A few lInkwood albums too.
This is cracking: Positivo | Grupo Magnético | Athens Of The North

Another one where I was going to buy the new balearic comp for €10 and then realised you can sub for €6 and get that release and the back catalogue (including the upcoming Aura Safari/Jimi Tenor album). Madness!

I’ve been doing a Patreon since August 2020 which is aimed at helping inspire music producers and DJs and it’s been pretty solid the whole time and ended up developing in some pretty interesting ways.

It’s called How I Program. Red Rack'em/How I Program | Electronic Music, Production Tutorials, Artist Development | Patreon

Every month, I invite a Music Producer to present a 2 hour (usually runs on longer) live production Masterclass. Guests so far have been:

Cinthie (x2), Adam Pits (x2), Crazy P, Medlar (x2), Atjazz, Rick Wade (x2), Posthuman, Zed Bias (x2), Jazzanova, Andreas Saag, Titonton Duvante, Charlton, Rebecca Vasmant, Ian Pooley, Hot Toddy, Aroop Roy, Ciel (x2), Mousse T., Nikki Nair, Dan Curtin, Violet, Megatronic, J.O.S.H.U.A, Jason Hogans, Jordan GCZ, Bored Lord, Snad, Danielle Moore (Crazy P), Borai, DJ ADHD, Art Of Tones (x2), Danny J Lewis, Jex Opolis, Charlie Dark, Lisene, Longeez, Switch, Fouk, Monika Ross

(x2) = 2 Masterclasses from that guest

You can watch clips from the Masterclasses here - https://www.youtube.com/@howiprogram

It’s not just production focused, we’ve had some great artist development Masterclasses from Charlie Dark, Posthuman and Megatronic. Andreas Saag presented one on composing the soundtrack to the Nintendo game Kosmokrats which was very interesting.

I’ve also been offering Artist Development Mentoring, forensic track feedback and Production tuition. This developed into One To One mentoring and also co-production, mixing and arrangement work for other artists.

One of the best experiences was when Dublin based Jazz Techno artist ZOiD got arts council funding to hire Devon Analogue Studios and hired me to ‘Produce’ the sessions.

We recently started a series of ‘Producer Focuses’ on artists in the group so here’s the one on ZOiD - https://youtu.be/awm1e3rLyfk?si=RtPH_k1rdOxZTqd8

The group is very friendly and is a ‘safe space’ for people to share their music and ideas and receive support for their work and share production tips, promote their releases and nerd out about hardware and plug ins.

We’ve also done some IRL meet ups which have been fun - the highlight was when we had Nikki Nair come and play for us in Bristol and he presented a production Masterclass in Love Inn before the club event - https://youtu.be/i5Lp44zsfUc?si=BNasWiKp8yp90GDd

Our guest in August is Detroit Techno pioneer Claude Young which is very exciting!

Flying Mojito Bros now have a subscription with most of their excellent back catalogue for £6 a month with a monthly exclusive (first one is a very nice version of ‘What a Fool Believes’)

Thanks for the heads up on that one.

This is another label where I generally like a lot of the releases with a €5 sub for the back catalogue and latest release…

Didn’t realise hell yeah did a sub.i buy quite a bit of their stuff so will sign up, thanks for that.

I also subscribe to AOTN and Nein. Had the Rhythm section sub too for a cpl of years but the releases seemed to dry up a bit so let that one go.

Hell Yeah & AOTN were the two that I kept the subs on long-term, both consistently release great stuff. Just subbed to Nein, thanks for mentioning!

Not sure how new this is (I only discovered it this week) but Dominic Dawson has gone for the subscription model.

Also given Capt Ahoy a go. I know not everyone is into edits but I quite like them as an introduction to European tunes that wouldn’t otherwise appear on my radar. And it’s monthly.
