Good documentaries

I can recommend the Mike Myers doc Supermensch about Alice Cooper’s and many others manager Shep Gordon. Its a lovely portrait.

Just found out I’m missing the London premiere of this tonight, followed by a 23 piece orchestra playing their tracks. Oh well…

I bought that 1996 b boy champs video (featured in this doc) with my pocket money as a kid and it inspired me to start djing after i realised i couldn’t dance as well as any of them. I always wondered what the deal was with that Second To None battle against the American crew in the video, i didn’t expect to have it answered in a place like this. Thanks so much for posting this.

My pleasure. Someone passed it on to me, so I’m just passing it on to you.

Great doc:-

Decided to rewatch this late last night. Due to a busy day and one too many shandies in front of the fire, I had to call it a night after 30 minutes. But a great documentary if you’re into this sort of thing.

Speed & Angels - It gets called the “real-life Top Gun.” Follows two navy pilots through their training. Their devotion to making this dream come true is shocking. The flight footage is intense and terrifying.

Alex Ball’s documentaries on synth brands’ histories are all worth the watch. The one above is only his latest one, but he’s done a feature length one on ARP, another on Roland, and a shorter one on Sequential’s Prophet synths.

These look amazing! Thanks for posting.

This is excellent and extremely thorough if you haven’t seen it already

Yeah - i was supposed to go to this (had tickets) but the train strike intervened :frowning:

i’m hearing they’re planning to make this a touring thing soon - so hopefully another chance to see it this year

Watched ‘Fire of Love’ last week - fascinating stuff.

I think the Kraffts also feature in Werner Herzog’s ‘Into the Inferno’ which is on my volcano-related watchlist

I was just about to post this. Saw this yesterday and it was fantastic. As tender and romantic as a movie about volcanologists can be.

You’ve probably all seen this.
Good clean music doc fun, with the ever entertaining Shawn Lee on great form journeying around the globe to track down the great library music collectors, players, movers and shakers

We showed this as part of the mighty West Norwood Free Film Festival down at The Book and Record Bar a few years back (pre pandemic obv) and Shawn kindly appeared for free to do a Q&A for us before the screening and was his garrulous self.
Looks like it’s on a couple of streaming sites now…

Pretending to be raising money for mentally handicapped people? Yeah, that’s about the level.
